Start with
the right files.
A well-prepared session gives your mix a clear starting point and helps avoid preventable delays.
For mixing
- Export individual tracks from the same start point so they line up correctly when imported.
- Use your session’s native sample rate and high-resolution WAV files. Do not upsample simply to make the number higher.
- Label tracks clearly: lead vocal, doubles, harmonies, kick, bass, and so on. Group the files in one project folder.
- Include your rough mix and reference tracks. Describe the parts of the references that matter to you.
- Keep intentional sounds and effects clear. If processing is essential to the sound, identify it in your notes and include a dry option when available.
- Include the song title, artist name, order number if already purchased, target release date, and requested deliverables.
For mastering
Send the final approved stereo mix at full resolution, free of clipping. Identify any intentional limiting or processing, and include your references and delivery needs.
